Installing custom recovery and custom-rom Part 2

Things Required

MediaTek USB VCOM drivers
SP Flash Tool v3.1222.00.7z
USB data cable
and ofcourse the Tinji s3 mobile ;)

Make sure you have rooted your mobile if not look here and make sure your mobile is powered off with battery removed.

Installing custom recovery

1. Open SPFlash tool SP Flash Tool v3.1222.00 and load the scatter file (MT6577_Android_scatter_emmc.txt) for your device and ignore any message that may appear.

2. And now click download and select "yes" for the warning.

3. Now connect your phone via USB and quickly put the battery and you will see some process will keep going. Don't do anything until its 100% completed and see a green symbol.

After you see a green symbol you are done.

Now your mobile should have ClockWorkMod Recovery.

Now methods to go to recovery

1. Switch off your mobile and connect the usb cable to charger and wait for the charging message to disappear and then press Vol up + power button together for few secs (The key combination may vary on different mobile models and usb cable is required only for tinji i9300)

2. Using MobileUncleTools

3. Using MTKDroidTools and selecting the button reboot to recovery


Installing a custom-rom

1. Get a valid custom-rom for your phone and put it in your sd card or internal memory of your phone.

2. Use any of the above methods to go to recovery

To scroll to the recovery menu use vol up and vol down and to select a menu item press power button.

3. Select wipe data/factory reset

4. and later Select wipe cache partition

5. And choose install from sd-card and choose the appropriate Rom.

6. Reboot your phone and you can see the custom-rom installed.

Rooting Tinji S3 MT6577 Part 1

Things required

MediaTek USB VCOM drivers
TinjiS3Root.zip
SP Flash Tool v3.1222.00.7z
USB data cable
and ofcourse the Tinji s3 mobile ;)

This is my 4shared folder you will find all the necessary files for this tutorial.

Ok here is the tutorial how to do.

Step 1.
We need to install mediatek drivers
this can be done in two ways
1.Manually installing
2.Downloading and Installing PDANet from here

1.Manually installing

Right Click on My Computer,
Select “Manage”
Select “Device Mangager”
Connect your mobile(without battery) to PC with USB cable
It will present as “MT65XX Preloader” with a yellow color exclamation mark under folder of Port or Other device
Right click this “Mtk65xx Preloader” do it quick! (ps: XP system MT65xx ports fleeting, Win7 system will flash all the time. What we need to do is to capture it , then right-click, if the capture fails, disconnect the mobile, reconnect it again)
Select “Update driver”)
Choose “Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)” and “Next”
Choose “Browse”
Choose the right folder according to your computer system, if your OS is win 7 choose “win7”, XP os select “2K_XP_COM “ , Vista os choose “Visa” . Then click “yes”
Click “ Next”
Click “Finish”. Unplug the phone
Congratulations! Install driver successfully !!

2.Using PDANet

Just download the appropriate os version and install the PDAnet with mobile switched on and connected to pc via USB cable.


Make sure you have installed properly (Dont worry about the numbers like com7 etc it may vary in your system).

Step 2. (And this same guide can be used to flash recovery, stock rom etc)

Download SP Flash Tool v3.1222.00.7z from above link and extract in your computer

Download TinjiS3Root.zip and extract in your computer

Now power off your phone and remove the battery and don't connect it to pc now.

Now Open up SP Flash Tool, you should have something like this

Load the scatter file (MT6577_Android_scatter_emmc.txt) for your device and ignore any message that may appear.

And now click download and select "yes" for the warning.

Now connect your phone via USB and quickly put the battery and you will some process will keep going. Don't do anything until its 100% completed and see a green symbol.

After you see that green symbol you are done.

Now your mobile will be rooted.
